Why is the Wild Card Reining Challenge Unique?
The Wild Card Reining Challenge is located at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. Produced by Brumley Management Group, LLC, the WCRC’s design is to cater to these concepts:
The Wild Card Reining Challenge 4 Year Old Futurity is designed to allow horses to develop more slowly, and provide a venue in which they can garner significant earnings without going head-to-head with more experienced equines. The 4 Year Old Futurity benefits not only the horses, but breeders, owners and trainers as well encouraging longevity of the reining performance horse. The event dates provide approximately 9 additional months of training for these horses. ONLY ONE REQUIREMENT To be eligible to compete, horses must be 4 years of age as of the start of the calendar year and cannot have been shown in any NRHA Approved 3 Year Old Futurity.
The 4/5 Year Old NARHA Pre-Futurity offers the NARHA Eliigible horses another location to show for prize money and awards. In addition, the event offers NARHA Approved Arabian and Half Arabian divisions for Open, Non Pro, Rookie, and Youth to win money and awards. The Educational Seminars are a large part of the goal of this event, teaching exhibitors about the rules of scoring, reining horses’ specific needs in training, shoeing, veterinary care and preventative maintenance. The NRHA Million Dollar Professionals Andrea Fappani in 2016, Jordan Larson in 2017 have volunteered their skills to viewers by providing a free training clinic. NRHA Judge Jody Brainard offered an extensive seminar regarding the rules of scoring and penalties often missed.
